Meet Jamie Trogdon, Client Care Manager

We are thrilled to introduce you to our new Client Care Manager, Jamie Trogdon! Jamie is not new to McAlister-Leftwich House, as she has served in the role of Venue Host for almost two years. We are so excited to have her step into an even larger role, where she will be working closely with our clients and vendors leading up to the day of their wedding or event. Jamie is committed to give each client a “MLH family experience” to ensure every event is a successful and memorable one.

Without further adieu, let’s get to know Jamie!

Tell us more about yourself!

In the southwest suburbs of Philadelphia, born and raised… okay, so maybe the Fresh Prince’s version is a littler catchier, but mine is true, nonetheless! I moved to North Carolina to attend High Point University, where I later graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology. I think I was drawn to studying psychology because I love people, and understanding the intricacies related to how we think, function, and interact allows me to love people better and more personally. My husband, Chris, and I tied the knot in June of 2016 and quickly planted roots in High Point. This past August, we welcomed home our first child, a perfect little girl!

What’s your favorite part of McAlister-Leftwich?

Surely this is a trick question! Between the rich history of the property and beautiful details (both young and old!), there is no shortage of things to love. But I think my favorite part is the flexibility of the spaces. No two weddings or events are ever the same. Even the ones that look similar or pull from the same inspiration end up feeling wildly different because they’re so deeply personal. The house is beautiful when it’s empty, but it really comes alive when it’s all decked out and filled with loved ones!

What’s your favorite part of a wedding day?

Another difficult question! I don’t have just one, so I’ll quickly touch on a few:
The excitement, for me, kicks off with the bride’s arrival early in the morning. She’s usually a combination of emotions – tired, anxious, excited, nervous, ready to get the show on the road – but she’s always glowing!
The house really comes alive with the arrival of the first guests. This is the moment where all of the dreaming, planning, and prepping finally gets to be shared. I love hearing the guests “ooh” and “ahh” as they marvel at the details!

And, of course, I’m a sucker for the classics! I still get teary-eyed every time the bride walks down the aisle. It’s always special to see who she chose to accompany her– and it’s truly an angelic moment if she walks by herself. There’s nothing like catching the groom the instant he sees his bride walking toward him, regardless of whether or not the couple chose to do a first look.

What excites you most about joining the MLH team?

I know from experience that having an incredible team of vendors leading up to the big day – whether that’s a wedding, shower, or otherwise – makes all the difference! I have loved playing a small role in that process as a Venue Host to help with the day-of tasks, and I’m excited to dive deeper into the time leading up to the celebration. I believe that the best gift we, as a team of vendors, can give our clients is to remove the responsibility of decision making. They have dreamed and planned and prepared long enough; by the time their day finally rolls around, they deserve to enjoy it free of interruptions!

What does your ideal Saturday look like?

I was never much of a morning person, but my recent transition into motherhood has certainly changed that! I have learned to anticipate and appreciate the sunrise each morning. This time is usually accompanied by a maple brown sugar latte from my “fancy schmancy latte machine” (as my mom calls it), and is full of baby snuggles, smiles, and sweetness. This is an ideal morning to me, and I’m lucky enough to get to live it every day! But since we’re dreaming here, I would love to spend the afternoon shopping, even if that just means aimlessly wandering the aisles of Target or TJ Maxx. I would end the evening by trying a new restaurant, dessert included, of course!

What are you loving right now?

I’m sure it’s the holiday season getting to me, but now I hear Julie Andrews serenading me in my head! These are a few of my favorite things: Promptly Journals, Dagne Dover bags, baking (especially cookies!), craft beer, DIY home projects, Ted Lasso, Sundays with friends, and cozy pajamas!!
