Venue Tour: Leftwich House

Oh, the Leftwich House. How we love you! Known as the Dixon-Leftwich-Murphy House, it is one of three notable Gothic Revival-inspired designs in Greensboro. Nurseryman Martin C. Dixon built the house on a large parcel of land in the northernmost section of the city in 1875. The house sold in 1887 to Colonel A. H. Leftwich. In 1903 the house was purchased by T. J. and Annie Leftwich-Murphy. Murphy was twice mayor of Greensboro. In more recent years, the house has served as apartments, an antique shop, an office space, and now, a special event venue.

Let’s start with Dixon. This room is one you’ve probably seen on our social media. It has a beautiful chandelier, stunning bay window, and historic fireplace. This room is most used for smaller ceremonies, 40 and under, styled shoots, and cocktail hour. The bar in the bay window is *chef’s kiss* perfection! When people walk into Leftwich, this is one of the first rooms that they want to see!

Let’s take a look at how some of our past clients have utilized this special space.

We love how Alexandra Blackmon and Lindley Battle, both incredible photographers, captured the beauty of their clients while using Dixon as a backdrop. That’s the beauty of this space, if you want to do a styled shoot, there’s no need to add any other decor. The space speaks for itself.

This room is also perfect for intimate ceremonies for up to 40 people. When a bride walks through the double doors, it is the most romantic moment! Customize your ceremony with a DJ or live music, you really can’t go wrong. We also love how couples add florals in the bay window to frame their special moment! Take a look at some of the beautiful ceremonies we’ve hosted in Dixon.

Next up is Murphy and Back Murphy. These rooms are mostly used for cocktail hour! We’ve had clients also use these rooms for the bar, photo booth set ups, lounge areas and cocktail tables for guests to relax and enjoy a drink or appetizer.

Finally, our clients (and us) just love the Gothic-inspired architecture! From engagement shoots to rehearsal dinners, and from ceremonies to the backdrop for a dance party, it’s always so inspiring to see how clients utilize the outside of Leftwich.
