The Rain Plan at McAlister-Leftwich House

There are many factors to planning your wedding and we wish as much as you that everything could be set in stone. However, if you plan to have an outdoor wedding, that isn’t possible. As you may know, the weather here can be a bit unpredictable. While we hope that you can have the outdoor wedding of your dreams, if rain is in the forecast, you can still have the wedding of your dreams! The beauty of McAlister-Leftwich is that while we offer incredible outdoor spaces, our indoor spaces are just as beautiful! No need to worry about your rain plan being not as beautiful, the beauty of our historic homes may be different than outside but you won’t be disappointed!

As a reminder, we have three outdoor ceremony options as well as the option to host your reception on the lawn! During the spring, summer, and fall months these are popular options, and for good reason! However, there is always a backup plan for our couples if rain should come.

The decision to switch to the rain plan must be made by 8:00 am the morning of your event, this gives our team enough time to make the appropriate changes to ensure the high quality experience we give all couples. By making this decision early, the stress of last minute decisions will be eliminated and your whole team will be able to execute your rain plan without a hitch!

Typically, when you switch to your rain plan, which is approved by you prior to your date, your ceremony is moved to Gant. You can either get married in front of the fireplace or the bay window. And don’t worry, Gant can still hold your larger wedding! If your wedding is smaller, Dixon is also a great option! Karley and Ethan chose to hold their ceremony in front of the bay windows in Gant.

After the ceremony your guests then move into Leftwich for Cocktail Hour. While this happens, Gant will be flipped for the reception. Again, the floor plan for your reception will be approved by you ahead of time in preparation for the possibility of a rain plan. Our team, as well as your other vendors, are professionals who will execute your rain plan with perfection and speed. No need to stress about anything on your day!

As you can see, we put thought and effort into your rain plan ahead of time so that if it happens on your day, there is minimal stress and change. We work with you in order to make your day as perfect as you envisioned, even if the location may look a bit different!
