Wedding Week Skincare Regimen

The week before your wedding can be stressful and overwhelming. You’ve worked so hard to make sure that everything is taken care of for the big day and you are both ecstatic and a little worn out. Remembering to take care of yourself is always important, but especially the week before you walk down the aisle. Of course, you want your skin to glow and your eyes to look bright and beautiful (tired and puffy eyes BE GONE), therefore keeping your skin moisturized and hydrated is a top priority. Below you’ll find a guideline for taking care of your skin the week before your wedding (and every week for that matter) using handmade all-natural products formulated by me and sold over at Some Call Me Crunchy.

Daily Regimen

Step 1: Oil Cleanser

Oil cleansing is an ideal way to clean your skin because it utilizes nourishing oils to both remove makeup and cleanse your skin. Oil cleansers help to balance the skin’s natural sebum because it cleanses the skin without stripping all of your skin’s natural oils away. Traditional cleansers (especially those formulated for acne) can remove too much oil which then triggers your skin to produce more. Some Call Me Crunchy oil cleansers come in three different formulas to meet your skin’s specific needs: Oily/Acne Prone, Normal/Combo, Dry/Mature.

Directions:

  1. Morning and night, drop a nickel-sized amount in your hand and rub over your entire face (this also removes makeup).
  2. Place a warm washcloth over your face and leave it for one minute or until it cools. As the cloth cools, wipe the oils off of your face.
  3. Continue rinsing your cloth with warm water and repeating until the oiliness is gone.

Step 2: Complexion Mist

Some Call Me Crunchy Complexion Mists act as facial toners that balance, soothe, and hydrate the skin.  They come in two different scent combos: Lavender Rose (with a hint of peppermint) and Calendula Frankincense (with a hint of geranium). If you typically have sensitive skin, opt for the Calendula Frankincense version.

Directions:

Spray onto your face after oil cleansing and before applying serum. Another favorite way to use this mist is to spray it over your makeup to add a boost of hydration throughout the day.

Step 3: Eye Serum

This all natural eye serum offers hydration and nourishment to the delicate area around the eyes and helps to reduce puffiness and add moisture to the skin. Nourishing carrot seed oil works to tighten and rejuvenate the skin while black tea infused almond oil helps to decrease puffiness and discoloration (yay vitamin K).

Directions:

Apply to the eye area morning and night after cleansing. Use your finger to gently pat and distribute as needed.

Step 4: Serum

Some Call Me Crunchy facial serums combine a variety of nourishing oils with a unique blend of essential oils for each skin type.

  • Balance (Oily/Acne Prone): features essential oils of grapefruit, wild orange, ylang-ylang, and geranium to help balance out skin tone and oil production.

  • Soothe (Normal/Combo): features essential oils of geranium, grapefruit, lavender, and cedarwood to help nourish and maintain beautiful looking skin.

  • Restore (Dry/Mature): features essential oils of helichrysum, frankincense, geranium, and sandalwood to help repair and regenerate the skin, smooth out wrinkles, and promote youthful looking skin.

Directions: Apply 2-3 drops to your face after applying your Complexion Mist of choice. For extra moisture in the winter months, add 2-3 drops of serum to a pea-sized amount of a water-based moisturizer (or lavender body butter) and mix in your hand before applying to skin.

Weekly Regimen

Facial Steam: Once Weekly

Herbal facial steams are a wonderful addition to any skincare routine. Facial steams are beneficial to your skin because they help to open up your pores, cleanse, promote healthy circulation, hydrate, and calm. The boost of circulation and hydration will leave your skin with a beautiful and healthy glow. This can also be used as a calming tea to help soothe those wedding week jitters! Insert this step after cleansing once per week.

Directions: Once weekly after oil cleansing, place 1-2 tablespoons of herbs into a bowl with 4 cups of boiling water. Drape a towel over your head and the bowl and breathe deeply for 2-5 minutes.

Bonus: Use a clay mask or this amazing Beautycounter peel to provide gentle exfoliation.
